- The Daughters of Juarez, by Teresa Rodriguez, is “a true story of serial murder” that takes place in the city of Juarez, Mexico, close to the US border. Since 1995, more than 300 young, poor women have been killed in Juarez; this book is a journalistic attempt to shed light on the murders and the families’ quest for justice. I first learned about this from A Striped Armchair (and am now tempted to participate in the Mexico 2010 Challenge, being half-Mexican myself)…
- Sneaker Wars, by Barbara Smit, is the true story of the “enemy brothers” who founded the Adidas and Puma sneaker companies. I saw this striking cover somewhere online, coveted it, forgot about it, and then relearned about it over at NYC Book Girl.
