Friday Finds (Feb 19)!

What great books did you hear about/discover this past week? Share your Friday Finds! This weekly meme is hosted by MizB over at Should be Reading.

  • The Daughters of Juarez, by Teresa Rodriguez, is “a true story of serial murder” that takes place in the city of Juarez, Mexico, close to the US border. Since 1995, more than 300 young, poor women have been killed in Juarez; this book is a journalistic attempt to shed light on the murders and the families’ quest for justice.  I first learned about this from A Striped Armchair (and am now tempted to participate in the Mexico 2010 Challenge, being half-Mexican myself)…
  • Sneaker Wars, by Barbara Smit, is the true story of the “enemy brothers” who founded the Adidas and Puma sneaker companies. I saw this striking cover somewhere online, coveted it, forgot about it, and then relearned about it over at NYC Book Girl.

Hope you liked my finds this week! Leave a link to your own Friday Finds in the comments! 🙂

I saw NYC Girl’s post on Sneaker Wars and thought it looked good too!

That Sneaker Wars book is not something I would normally pick up but I had no idea that those companies were in competition mainly due to a family feud.

I had no idea either! It’s funny how little we know about what caused the creation of companies that are so popular and ubiquitous today. 🙂

Ooh, I do like a true story and these both look fabulous.

Eva reads the most interesting books, doesn’t she? I also think The Sneaker Wars sounds like a good read!

She sure does! I’m new to book blogging, but I’m having a lot of fun reading everyone else’s blogs and trying to catch up!
