I’m a girl in my mid-20s. I’m from New York and live in New York City now. Previously I lived in Providence, Rhode Island, where I was a graduate student of environmental studies. I like books (obviously!), birds and bird-watching, Netflix, tea of all kinds, red wine, Mystery Science Theater 3000, buying ridiculous toys for my dog, and trying new restaurants. I’m a semi-professional volunteer (i.e, I’m underemployed), having spent time in a bilingual kindergarten classroom, an environmental education center, and an urban botanical garden.

I don’t like people who walk slowly in front of me during rush hour.

I’m passionate about super-good books, but probably write my best/funniest reviews about books that have personally offended me with their badness. I’m an advocate of sincerely badass female characters, non-wimpy vampires and werewolves, rip-roarin’ revenge, and dog characters not being killed/dying horribly.

My favorite genres include fantasy, science fiction, creative non-fiction, and whatever-the-hell “literary fiction” is.

Your reviews are good to read. πŸ™‚ I find myself pretty much in agreement with a lot of what you said.

      Hi Rufus,

Yes, it is! I grew up reading fantasy and (as my real first name is Taryn) I thought borrowing a title from the Chronicles of Prydain made a lot of sense!

      Thanks for reading,
      Taryn
